Growing up I loved fashion and style, when I was 19 I opened my first designer store in Sheffield. Working with high end brands like Prada, Dolce Gabbana and Moschino, it became one of the most sought after designer shops on the high street, and within 13 years I had 5 stores across the Midlands. I fell in love with helping women feel fabulous in what they wore. After my personal circumstances changed I closed my UK stores and opened up a second hand designer shop called 'Begin Again'.
We took on unwanted designer clothes and revamped them into being wardrobe staples for new customers. This store showed me that people would often throw clothes out too readily when all they needed was to be shown how to reinvent these beautiful garments to create new outfits for themselves.
This led to me starting my branching out into personal styling to help individuals gain style confidence through what they wore and re-invent the clothes they already had, saving them money.
As the demand for my personal styling service increased so did my frustration with how the image industry, pigeon-holed people into colour types and personality slots. My personal approach has always been to work with your personal style and your existing wardrobe to create your own style DNA.
I decided to spread my unique approach and vast experience by launching the Alicia Kite Academy in 2006. From training girls around my kitchen table to building my very own bespoke in-house academy. I now have students worldwide, benefitting from my home study course, where I personally mentor every student or they visit my Nottingham Academy to spend a weekend learning all about style.
Today I still practice as an image consultant and regularly visit many of my loyal clients whom I’ve helped for years, and have watched them grow with confidence whilst enjoying their style. Twenty years on it's my proudest achievement.
With over 30 years experience in the fashion and image industry, I have helped thousands of women gain confidence through what they wear.
My aim is to help you show you clients how to look and feel fabulous every day using the clothes they already have to help make fashion work for them. My approach has always been about utilising what you already own: ‘shopping from your wardrobe’ rather than engaging in fast fashion practices. This is even more important now as we place our focus on sustainable style. My practice shows to clients that you can save money and time in the long run as I show them how to build a good wardrobe rather than keep replacing tired looking clothes.
