    50 IS THE NEW 40!

Ladies, always remember that age is just a number; it’s how you feel that matters and how you look can affect how you feel. I thought this week I would share with you my tops tips of how to look and feel amazing in your 50’s.

    Stop making excuses!
    • "I feel fat it's my age"
    • "I am on a diet"
    • "It doesn't matter about me
    • "I am alright"

But are you? When you look in the mirror what do you see? You could be your own worse critic and not even realise it!

    Stop.

Let’s start again today and don’t put your life on hold anymore. Think back to your 30’s and 40’s - were you your worse critic then too?

Looking back how fabulous did you look? How much slimmer were you then and yet you were still not happy with yourself. Let’s accept who you are today and get cracking, you don’t want your 50’s or even your 60’s passing you by and not loving yourself for the truly fabulous, stylish person you are TODAY.

    The plan

    You need to consider:
    • How do I want to look?
    • What are my best assets?
    • Why do I need clothes?

These are 3 simple questions but how you answer them can change your life.

How do I want to look?

Think about the styles you like. Start to look at people around you, at magazines and Instagram. Take note of what you like and why, you could even start to create a moodboard to collate your inspiration and refer back to. That’s what I do for myself and my clients.

    What are my best assets?

We are all our own worse critic. We know what we don’t like about ourselves but have you forgotten about what you do like? I love my legs (veins and all) my boobs (good bra needed to keep them under control) and I love my small bottom (I must get the right trousers or jeans or it can turn into old lady flat bottom.) I like my face (makeup helps) and I love my hair (colour and cut on regular basis is needed).
What I don’t like is my tummy and my muffins that I have always have seemingly got worse - don't you just love Mother Nature and menopause!
My body shape has always been the same really, it’s just widened with age.
I can either moan, be on a constant diet and live at the gym or wear clothes that flatter me and compliment my body shape. Style me Slim really does work and styling myself to take years off of me really works too.
Yet so many women still have no idea what clothes can do for them.

They really can age you and make you look fatter.

    Why do I need clothes?

This might seem like a funny question but I see this all too often; A wardrobe full of clothes yet we don’t wear most of them.
Too small. Please get rid of them and move on.
Too dressy. Stop being a magpie when you go shopping, how many times realistically do you go out?
Too formal. Your lifestyle has changed so make sure your image and clothes has changed with it.

Spending time getting to know you and the person you are today.

If you don’t stop, think and start again, you are never going to be the '50 is the new 40' stylish lady. You could instead end up being the menopausal 50 year old waking up in her 60’s thinking 'is this it?'
Sorry to be harsh but I want you to wake up and accept who you are today. It’s an amazing feeling I promise you. Live by the motto of 'work it baby work it' and remember, the saying 'you can’t teach a old dog new tricks' doesn’t apply to us stylish 50 year olds! We have a lot of tricks up our sleeve.
